Two large inside pockets keep you organized. Sturdy, long handles allow you to carry the bag on your shoulder. Two ties at the top help secure all your stuff. Or, make fabric-covered handles using cotton welt (piping). The Big Totes featured were made with six, 6-inch (finished size) blocks. Each block is made from just three basic units. All units are made using foundation paper-piecing for accuracy. Choose from15 block units ranging from easy to intermediate in difficulty. Then, have fun playing with the units to design your own blocks or use the block layouts provided. Foundation templates are arranged on pull-out pattern sheets so that you can copy them onto foundation piecing paper, newsprint, or other lightweight paper using your inkjet printer. You can also use any UFO blocks you have that finish to 6" square (and will look good next to each other without sashing in between). Complete, accurate, easy to follow instructions. Foundation paper-piecing templates included. This is an intermediate level project. The pattern assumes you are familiar with foundation paper piecing. Basic sewing knowledge, rotary cutting, quilting, and sewing skills required. Originally published in the Nov. 2011 issue of The Quilt Pattern Magazine, www.QuiltPatternMagazine.com.
